Where are you from, and when did you move
to the DC area?
I’m originally from a small ranch in New Mexico,
and then lived in NYC for about 19 years. My
partner and I of 10+ years relocated to DC in
2022.
Where do you live now?
I’ve been in the same apartment since we
moved in Cleveland Park— just a hop, skip, and
a jump down Connecticut from CW Wines!
Age: Somewhere between thinking I’m in my 20’s but about to turn 40!
What do you do for a living?
I work in Broadway Touring Management, which brought me to Rockville,
MD where I am a production accountant for various national tours.
When did you become interested in wine, beer, and, or cheese?
Starting in my 20’s and living in NYC I started learning about wines while
working at a wine bar. There was an amazing shop I used to frequent on the
upper west side that had a selection of wines quite comparable to CW, and
the journey began.
How did you discover CW?
We discovered CW the first week of moving, Google search helped, as well
as such close proximity to our apartment and walking by.
How does wine fit into your lifestyle?
We cook almost every night, sometimes the wines are strictly used in
dishes, sometimes just a glass (or three) to relax after a busy day.
Do you have a wine/beer/cellar/collection?
I wouldn’t call our wines a cellar or collection, but we usually have 3-4
bottles on hand at a given time and a couple of different wheat beers in the
fridge.
What are your favorite wines/beers/cheeses for everyday drinking/eating?
I’m mainly a whiskey drinker, and the wines are for more special
moments/meals that we pair with cheeses. When it comes to favorites
however, it really depends on the season or what is on the dinner menu.
Summer time is great for a fresh Riesling, Gewürztraminer or Alsace wine…
Fall/Winter lean more on a nice Montepulciano or Shiraz… and don’t get
me started on cheese… any cheese is the best cheese!
Do you have a favorite "special occasion" wine/beer/cheese?
I might say a nice Port is a special occasion treat- my go to favorite is a
Pedro Ximénez
What do you like best about CW?
The staff is amazing, the selection of everything, and the prices are quite
reasonable. I also enjoy that the rotating selection of cheeses and certain
things is refreshing (that being said – if there is a cheese I like, it usually
comes back and I know I will be able to find it again).
Do you have a "wine/beer/food philosophy"?
Always be willing to try something new!
