f there’s a wine that speaks softly yet leaves
a lasting impression, it’s red Burgundy.
Crafted entirely from Pinot Noir, these
wines are admired for their elegance, nuance,
and ability to reflect even the smallest
variations in soil and climate. No other red
grape so clearly tells the story of where it’s
grown. In the Côte de Nuits, Pinot Noir reaches its most profound
expression — structured, age-worthy wines filled with layers of cherry,
earth, and spice. Villages like Gevrey-Chambertin, Nuits-Saint-Georges,
and Vosne-Romanée produce reds of depth and longevity, often described
as the heart of Burgundy. Moving south to the Côte de Beaune, the style
softens; places like Volnay, Pommard, and Savigny-lès-Beaune yield wines
that are graceful and aromatic, with red fruit and floral lift. Beyond these
famous slopes, areas like the Côte Chalonnaise and Mâconnais deliver
excellent value, offering approachable, fruit-driven Pinots that still carry
Burgundy’s signature finesse. Red Burgundies invite patience and curiosity
